Our History

I would like personally to share with you how these written articles came about. From 1957 to 1960, while I was in the U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bennington, an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Fleet, I came to know Christ.

God gave me a very powerful hunger to know the truth. Many of the articles you are about to read were simply God's answers to honest questions that I asked the Lord. Also Roy Stahl, a dear friend of mine, whose articles are included in this website, encouraged me to write.

I asked the Lord for inspiration. There were times the anointing of God's Spirit was so powerful that I could hardly keep up with my pencil. I began writing at the age of 21 and have been writing ever since. I have found it to be a most excellent way to capture the mind.

So you now may read the results. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy these articles and share them with others.

By the way, there are two articles that you surely must read: “My Enemy” by Bill Turner and “God’s Crucible” written by an unknown author. (Click on the underlined names above to go to articles.)

MY SHIP WAS TOSSED AND BATTERED

ON A LONELY WINDSWEPT SEA,

WITHOUT A COMPASS OR A WHEEL

TO SET A COURSE FOR ME.

IT SEEMED EACH WAVE THAT CAUGHT ME

DROVE ME FURTHER OUT TO SEA,

AND UNLESS I GAINED CONTROL,

I WOULD LOSE HER TO THE SEA.

AS THE NIGHT WATCH CLOSED ABOUT ME,

ALL HOPE SINKING IN DESPAIR.

I HEARD THE CALL OF RESCUE

SOUNDING CLEARLY THROUGH THE AIR.

I SAW THE SHIP OF MERCY

AS IT MADE ITS WAY TO ME.

ITS FLAG WAS THAT OF JESUS—

THE GOD OF DESTINY.

HE TOOK THE WHEEL AND SET MY COURSE

AND CALMED THE ANGRY WAVES,

NOW WITH HIM AS MY CAPTAIN,

MY FRAIL SHIP I KNOW HE’LL SAVE.

These are the fellowships that go across life’s seas with you so you don’t have to carry the whole burden yourself. The Bible says, “Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ—Gal. 6:2 That’s the law of love.
