Gift of Love
I would like to fill a page with good things.
I want my life to show them forth,
But the page gets filled with other things,
And my life reflects a bad report.

It is not good for this to be—
It bothers all my thought.
But the more I try to make it good,
My efforts come to naught.

There is one thing I soon must learn,
And learn with all my heart.
The good that fills my page of life
Is not my own—in any part.

It comes from God and Him alone,
A gift of love to me,
A gift that lifts me up and makes me know
That only God my eyes should see.

You see, I need to know this
And know it very well.
It shows to me that I need God,
If I want my life to tell.

So with things of God I’ll fill my page,
And then I’ll show it forth.
I’ll let others look at me,
And trust God for my report.
