My Peace

My Peace

The lord will take care of me for I am his child. I am his life and the object of his love. He has surrounded me with himself.

He who has made the heavens has promised to supply my every need. He who spoke, and by his word formed all that is, has promised never to forsake me. He who is faithful to me, even when my heart quakes, is my provider. He, who is my judge, has given me his righteousness, so that I may know I can not fall short of his glory.

Because of this, I must say…

“Be still my soul, and fear not. For that which you have is the gift of god. Cease from your struggles and strive not, for that which you have is not of your own doing.

“Think now, my soul, have you obtained that which you have by your own doing? did your efforts bring you life? have you brought yourself into eternity? you know that you can not break into the heavens. you can not steal that which is god’s, nor can you do the work of your father. do you not know that you belong to him? you are his to keep. it is his joy to provide for you and to keep you in all your ways. he shall not let you be overcome nor will he turn you away a beggar.

“Only, my soul, do not look to your own understanding, for in it you shall be lost. only in the glory of god do you live. you shall know that your eyes can not see as god’s eyes. do not reason and say, thus and such. let your eyes be blinded by the glory of god’s presence so you will not see the circumstances about you that would cause you to doubt. let your eyes be blinded by god’s glory, so that wherever you look there will be nothing but the sureness of god’s presence. know, my soul, that god’s care for you reaches far beyond the limits of human knowledge. know this, my soul, and rest. the waters shall not overflow you. fear shall not overcome you. there is a bulwark about you; the word of the lord has declared it.”

So I say, “Rejoice, my soul, rejoice and rest in the love and care of your father.”
